: Akar kait.
Deskripsi : Liana berkayu, memanjat; buku dan ruas batang terlihat jelas; batang tua menggala, batang muda persegi empat jelas; terdapat sepasang sulur pengait pada setiap buku, di bawah duduk daun. Daun penumpu berbelah. Daun tunggal, menjangat, tersusun berhadapan; membundar telur; pangkal daun membundar; ujung daun meruncing; tepi daun mengutuh; permukaan daun gundul, licin; perumukaan bawah daun sedikit kasar; pertulangan daun menyirip, menimbul atau menonjol pada permukaan bawah daun, jelas; daun berwarna hijau gelap. Bunga bongkol, aksiler. Bunga biseksual, menabung, bakal buah inferior; daun kelopak melonceng, bercuping-5, hijau kecoklatan; daun mahkota 5, putih, menyatu di bagian pangkal menabung; kelamin bunga tidak teramati. Buah kapsul, lonjong-memanjang; kehijauan; berpendar saat kering. Biji tidak teramati.
Ekologi : Persebaran alami dari wilayah Bangladesh, Filipina, Indonesia (Sumatra, Jawa, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Sunda Kecil, Maluku, Papua), Kamboja, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Papua Nugini, P. Andaman, P. Nicobar, Queensland, Thailand, dan Vietnam. Pada umumnya tumbuh pada ekosistem hutan dataran rendah di hutan primer atau hutan sekunder. Tumbuh memanjat pada kanopi-kanopi pohon yang tinggi atau pada areal terbuka menjalar di permukaan tanah.
Kegunaan : Batang secara etnomedisin dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku ramaun tradisional untuk anti kanker. Catatan: Jenis ini sulit dibedakan secara identifikasi cepat di lapangan dengan jenis U. borneensis, sehingga perlu dilakukan identifikasi pada tahap specimen assessment. Referensi: L.2966547! IUCN Red List Status
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), or in Indonesian, Serikat Internasional Untuk Pelestarian Alam, makes decisions to determine the conservation status of a species or plant. The current categories of the IUCN Red List criteria include extinct (EX), extinct in the wild (EW), critically endangered (CR), endangered (EN), vulnerable (VU), near threatened (NT), least concern (LC), data deficient (DD), and not evaluated (NE).
The CITES List Status
CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) , aims to restrict countries from trading protected flora and fauna or those with extremely limited numbers. The CITES status consists of appendices (attachments) numbered I-III. Appendix I is a list of flora and fauna that absolutely cannot be traded because they are critically endangered. Appendix II is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded, but their numbers are limited. Meanwhile, Appendix III is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded because they are abundant in one country but limited in another.
