Berwarna coklat kehitaman dengan pola yang simetris di tubuhnya dan memiliki ukuran kepala yang besar. Pada bagian sirip belakang memiliki jari-jari yang lunak dan satu duri<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Habitat <\/strong>: Spesies ini hidup di berbagai lahan basah, termasuk sungai, danau, rawa dan hutan banjir. Umumnya ikan ini suka dengan daerah yang kondisi airnya tenang tidak terlalu berombak. Ia memakan ikan kecil, udang, serangga air, moluska dan kepiting. Spesies ini berkembang biak sepanjang tahun dan bertelur di sarang di atas batu atau benda padat lainnya di dalam air. Ia menghasilkan hingga 50.000 telur setiap tahunnya. Larva menetap di dasar setelah sekitar satu bulan sejak menetas.
