Pada deretan bintik-bintik di sepanjang barisan sisik biasanya terdapat sepasang duri dengan jumlah 16 barisan sisik sirkumduksi (Kottelat 1998). Biasanya 12-14 sisik predorsal berbentuk tabung garis lateral tidak bercabang, sedangkan bintik prekudal berukuran sedang; duri rahang atas dan biasanya duri rostral (Rainboth 1996)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Habitat <\/strong>: Ikan ini adalah ikan mas benthopelagis berukuran besar yang muncul di bagian hilir dan tengah sungai, juga mendiami berbagai jenis habitat air tawar seperti sungai besar dan anak sungai. Biasanya selama musim kemarau mendiami hutan riparian yang tergenang air. Ikan ini juga ditemukan di waduk. Memakan zooplankton, krustasea kecil, chironomid, dan larva serangga lainnya.
