Deskripsi : Terna, kebanyakan epifit, sangat jarang terestrial. Batang bulat, coklat keabu-abuan atau sedikit keunguan pudar pada ujung tuna batang. Daun penumpu ada, berkanjang, berbentuk bulan sabit. Daun tunggal, semi-menjangat, daun berseling-berpusar; tangkai daun panjang, gundul; helaian daun membundar telur-melebar, jorong, atau memembundar telur sungsang; pangkal daun melebar-membaji, membundar atau menjatung; ujung daun menumpul atau meruncing; tepi daun mengutuh; pertulangan daun menyirip, 7−14 pasang; permukaan daun gundul di ke dua sisi; hijau gelap dipermukaan atas, hijau terang dipermukaan bawah. Perbungaan jantan bercabang dikotom, 2−3 kali; daun gagang berbentuk cawan atau perahu; glomerulus berdiameter 5−7 mm. Perbungaan betina bercabang dikotom 1 atau 2 seri, tangkai perbungaan utama lebih panjang dari tangkai sekunder; daun gagang sama dengan jantan; glomerulus berdiameter 2.5−3.5 cm. Bunga jantan duduk, bulat telur; perhiasan bunga bercuping 4, berambut balig; benang sari 4, tangkai sari pendek dan tegak. Bunga betina dengan kepala putik pendek dan melidah. Buah longkah kering, lonjong-bulat telur sungsang, berbingkahan.
Ekologi : Persebaran alami dari wilayah Assam, Banglades, Cina bagian Selatan-Tengah, Filipina, Himalaya bagian Timur, Indonesia (Sumatra, Jawa, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku), Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, P. Andaman, P. Nicobar, Thailand, dan Vietnam. Pada umumnya tumbuh pada ekosistem dataran rendah seperti hutan primer dan hutan sekunder. Tumbuh epifit pada pohon besar di batang atau dahan, atau sering dijumpai pada batang pohn yang telah tumbang di hutan riparian, hutan lahan basah dan hutan kering. Referensi: Chen et al., 2003.

IUCN Red List Status
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), or in Indonesian, Serikat Internasional Untuk Pelestarian Alam, makes decisions to determine the conservation status of a species or plant. The current categories of the IUCN Red List criteria include extinct (EX), extinct in the wild (EW), critically endangered (CR), endangered (EN), vulnerable (VU), near threatened (NT), least concern (LC), data deficient (DD), and not evaluated (NE).
The CITES List Status
CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) , aims to restrict countries from trading protected flora and fauna or those with extremely limited numbers. The CITES status consists of appendices (attachments) numbered I-III. Appendix I is a list of flora and fauna that absolutely cannot be traded because they are critically endangered. Appendix II is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded, but their numbers are limited. Meanwhile, Appendix III is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded because they are abundant in one country but limited in another.
