Nama
: Jelutung; Jelutong.
Deskripsi : Pohon, berukuran besar, tinggi mencapai 60 m, diameter dapat mencapai di atas 200 cm; pohon tidak berbanir. Kulit batang abu-abu gelap, kehitaman saat basah, halus; pepagan tebal, berlekir atau kurik, coklat pudar sampai keputihan, getahnya sangat banyak, putih susu. Ranting biasanya bayak, bergaris-garis kasar sebanyak 6−8, tunas apikal ditutupi oleh lingkaran kelenjar seperti cakar. Daun tunggal, bentuk bervariasi, menjangat; panjang tangkai daun ±2−6 cm, bayak, berabungan, berkelenjar seperti cakar di bagian pangkal, ± 2 mm; jorong, jorong-lonjong, membundar telur sungsang atau melanset sungsang, gundul, pangkal daun menyerong, membundar atau runcing, ujung daun runcing, membundar atau berujung majal, tepi daun sering mengombak; pertulangan daun 17 pasang (atau 12−20); permukaan bawah daun berlilin. Bunga biseksual; kecil, 6−10 mm. Buah bumbung, panjang sampai 40 cm, berpendar . Biji bersayap, panjang 6 cm.
Ekologi : Persebaran alami dari wilayah Thailand, Semanjung Malaysia, Indonesia (Sumatra dan Kalimantan). Di Kalimantan Timur dapat dijumpai di lahan basah Mesangat dan Suwi, lahan basah Sedulang. Pada umumnya tumbuh pada ekosistem hutan dataran rendah, jarang dijumpai pada hutan perbukitan. Spesies ini tumbuh lebih sering pada daerah yang lembab sampai basah seperti tepi sungai dan rawa (rawa gambut).
Kegunaan : Kayu merupakan bahan baku yang baik untuk produk pertukangan dan pada jaman dahulu getah dimanfaatkan untuk dijual. Referensi: Kessler & Sidiyasa, 1994.

IUCN Red List Status
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), or in Indonesian, Serikat Internasional Untuk Pelestarian Alam, makes decisions to determine the conservation status of a species or plant. The current categories of the IUCN Red List criteria include extinct (EX), extinct in the wild (EW), critically endangered (CR), endangered (EN), vulnerable (VU), near threatened (NT), least concern (LC), data deficient (DD), and not evaluated (NE).
The CITES List Status
CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) , aims to restrict countries from trading protected flora and fauna or those with extremely limited numbers. The CITES status consists of appendices (attachments) numbered I-III. Appendix I is a list of flora and fauna that absolutely cannot be traded because they are critically endangered. Appendix II is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded, but their numbers are limited. Meanwhile, Appendix III is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded because they are abundant in one country but limited in another.
