Deskripsi : Perdu, kadang berupa pohon. Kulit batang coklat tua, licin pada ujung ranting, ranting muda ruas dan buku-buku terlihat jelas. Daun penumpu ada, panjangnya 7−10 mm. Daun tunggal, menjangat, tipis, berhadapan; tangkai daun pendek sekitar 1−1.5 cm, kecoklatan terang; helai daun menjorong sampai melonjong; pangkal daun membaji sampai membundar; ujung daun meruncing dengan sedikit bagian lancip di ujungnya; tepi daun mengutuh; permukaan atas daun mengkilap, gundul atau licin, kusam di kedua sisi permukaan; tulang daun utama jelas, kecoklatan sampai memudar saat tua; pertulangan daun lateral menyirip, tenggelam, jumlahnya banyak. Perbungaan berbatas, malai, percabangan dikotom, aksiler. Bunga biseksual; daun gagang dan daun gantilan berjumlah 2 atau 3 helai, bersatu di bagian dasar membentuk cawan, bagian ujung bebas, membundar telur, meruncing. Kelopak berjumlah 5−7 helai, melanset; daun mahkota membundar telur sungsang sampai menyundip, terkerkah. Dasar bunga tebal-berdaging; tangkai benang sari mendabus, pipih; kepala sari merembang; bakal buah bersel-1, bakal biji 10−12; kepala putik mencakram (discoid), beralur dan bercuping samar-samar. Buah buni, bulat telur sungsang, hijau zaitun sampai merah gelap saat masak, permukaan halus, sedikit bercuping samar, biji 1. Biji mengginjal, hitam, aerolate.
Ekologi : Persebaran alami di pulai Kalimantan (endemik) tersebar di Kalimantan Barat dan Kalimantan Timur. Pada umumnya di lahan basah Mesangat−Suwi tumbuh di habitat hutan riparian.
Kegunaan : Buah masak dapat dimakan rasanya manis sedikit asam. Referensi: Hou, 1958.

IUCN Red List Status
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), or in Indonesian, Serikat Internasional Untuk Pelestarian Alam, makes decisions to determine the conservation status of a species or plant. The current categories of the IUCN Red List criteria include extinct (EX), extinct in the wild (EW), critically endangered (CR), endangered (EN), vulnerable (VU), near threatened (NT), least concern (LC), data deficient (DD), and not evaluated (NE).
The CITES List Status
CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) , aims to restrict countries from trading protected flora and fauna or those with extremely limited numbers. The CITES status consists of appendices (attachments) numbered I-III. Appendix I is a list of flora and fauna that absolutely cannot be traded because they are critically endangered. Appendix II is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded, but their numbers are limited. Meanwhile, Appendix III is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded because they are abundant in one country but limited in another.
