Deskripsi : Pohon, mencapai tinggi 30 m, kadang berbanir kecil, perdu; getah putih susu, krim, atau hampir jambon. Daun semi-menjangat, tersusun spiral (atau semi-berseling berderet-2); panjang tangkai daun 1.5−7 cm, semi-gundul atau berambut baliq halus, epidermis mengelupas; helai daun lonjong sampai melanset, atau semi-membundar telur sungsang; pangkal daun membaji sampai membundar atau semi-menjantung; ujung daun semi-melancip atau semi-meruncing; tepi daun mengutuh atau rata, kadang-kadang bergigi tidak teratur atau semi-bercuping; permukaan daun atas dan bawah meroma-jarang dan menggundul atau berambut balig halus pada tulang daun utama dan anak tulang daun utama di bagian bawah daun, halus, pertulangan daun lateral berjumlah 4-12 pasang, urat daun menangga, pada ketiak antara anak tulang daun lateral bagian bawah terdapat kelenjar lilin, seringkali tidak mencolok; daun penumpu ada, berambut balig halus sampai menggimbal, semi-berkanjang atau lekas luruh. Perbungaan periuk, muncul di batang, bergelombol, panjang mencapai ± 25 cm, sering bercabang, pada cabang yang tua dan berdaun sedikit sampai ke batang; tangkai bunga 0.3−1.2 cm; daun gagang bawah berjumlah 3, panjang 1−2 mm, berkanjang; dasar bunga semi-bulat sampai menavokad (buah longkah atau semu), diameter buha kering 1.5−3 cm, 3−5 saat masih segar, berambut balig halus, tanpa daun penumpu lateral, jambon sampai keunguan atau jingga saat matang, ujung buah rata sampai agak cembung, ostiol berdiameter ± 3 mm, mencolok, rambut-rambut internal tidak ada.
Ekologi : Persebaran alami di Australia, Cina bagian Selatan, Indonesia (Sumatra, Jawa, Kalimantan, Sunda Kecil, Sulawesi, Papua) Myanmar, Papua Nugini, Semenanjung Malaysia, Sri Lanka, dan Thailand. Pada umumnya tumbuh pada hutan primer dan sekunder termasuk hutan dataran rendah (hutan riparian, hutan lahan basah). Di Kalimantan Timur tersebar hampir di seluruh daratan diantaranya di lahan basah Mesangat dan Suwi. Referensi: Kochummen & Go, 2000; Berg & Corner, 2005.

IUCN Red List Status
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), or in Indonesian, Serikat Internasional Untuk Pelestarian Alam, makes decisions to determine the conservation status of a species or plant. The current categories of the IUCN Red List criteria include extinct (EX), extinct in the wild (EW), critically endangered (CR), endangered (EN), vulnerable (VU), near threatened (NT), least concern (LC), data deficient (DD), and not evaluated (NE).
The CITES List Status
CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) , aims to restrict countries from trading protected flora and fauna or those with extremely limited numbers. The CITES status consists of appendices (attachments) numbered I-III. Appendix I is a list of flora and fauna that absolutely cannot be traded because they are critically endangered. Appendix II is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded, but their numbers are limited. Meanwhile, Appendix III is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded because they are abundant in one country but limited in another.

"Endemic species" can be defined as species that naturally and exclusively inhabit and highly adapt to a specific geographical area. Based on the size and boundaries of their territory, this status includes Endemic (E) and Non-Endemic (NE).
