Deskripsi : Spesies ini memiliki bercak hitam di pangkal sirip ekor, walau tidak selalu jelas. Pada deretan bintik-bintik di sepanjang barisan sisik biasanya terdapat sepasang duri dengan jumlah 16 barisan sisik sirkumduksi (Kottelat 1998). Biasanya 12-14 sisik predorsal berbentuk tabung garis lateral tidak bercabang, sedangkan bintik prekudal berukuran sedang; duri rahang atas dan biasanya duri rostral (Rainboth 1996).
Habitat : Ikan ini adalah ikan mas benthopelagis berukuran besar yang muncul di bagian hilir dan tengah sungai, juga mendiami berbagai jenis habitat air tawar seperti sungai besar dan anak sungai. Biasanya selama musim kemarau mendiami hutan riparian yang tergenang air. Ikan ini juga ditemukan di waduk. Memakan zooplankton, krustasea kecil, chironomid, dan larva serangga lainnya. Siklus hidup ikan ini adalah hidup di sungai-sungai selama musim kemarau dan memilih dataran banjir selama musim hujan (Rainboth 1996).
Sebaran : Spesies ini tersebar luas di Thailand, Laos, Kamboja hingga ke Vietnam selatan, Malaysia, Brunei Darusalam dan Indonesia

IUCN Red List Status
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), or in Indonesian, Serikat Internasional Untuk Pelestarian Alam, makes decisions to determine the conservation status of a species or plant. The current categories of the IUCN Red List criteria include extinct (EX), extinct in the wild (EW), critically endangered (CR), endangered (EN), vulnerable (VU), near threatened (NT), least concern (LC), data deficient (DD), and not evaluated (NE).
The CITES List Status
CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) , aims to restrict countries from trading protected flora and fauna or those with extremely limited numbers. The CITES status consists of appendices (attachments) numbered I-III. Appendix I is a list of flora and fauna that absolutely cannot be traded because they are critically endangered. Appendix II is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded, but their numbers are limited. Meanwhile, Appendix III is a list of flora and fauna that can be traded because they are abundant in one country but limited in another.
